YIM 2009 Kerala

YIM 2009, the first experiment of its kind, was a fabulous success. The first 2009 YIM meeting brought together 40 Indian junior faculty, 20 postdoctoral fellows, leaders in Indian government, senior Indian scientists, and a stellar group international scientists. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of the meeting was allowing young Indian scientists, who represent the future of Indian biology, to meet each other, make friendships, start collaborations, and share ideas of developing their laboratories. The meeting also provided an interesting blend of valuable information for young scientists on a variety of topics- how does one pick problems in science, what are the new directions for the DBT and Indian biology, how does one encourage and mentor graduate students, what are that best strategies for writing and obtaining grants, just to name a few. Please peruse the site to learn more about the activities and impressions of the meeting.
